Antenna Theory and Design

Course Code: 023506

Teaching Hours: 32

Key Words: Antenna Theory; Impedance Bandwidth; Radiation Pattern; Polarization; Feeding Technique

Purpose and Role of the Course:

Antennas are the basic and inevitable elements in communication systems. This course is designed for the postgraduates who are in electromagnetic fields and microwave techniques or some other majors related. Based on the theory of microwave technology foundation and electromagnetic field and electromagnetic wave, this course will systematically introduce the most basic and practical antennas’ design and measurement as well as the basic principle and technology of the antenna.

In the Antenna course studying, firstly, make the students understand the basic theory to analyze the antenna, master the antenna design procedure, master the simulation and measurement methods and instruments of the antenna, understand the differences between the model in simulator and practical object; for another, it is important to cultivate the students’ ability of self-study and observing and synthesizing, and the ability of analyzing, inducing and solving problems.
