Biographer:
Professor Fei Gao received his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, from the University of Liverpool, UK. From 2008 to 2014, he worked at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory as Chief Scientist. Since 2014, he is employed as a professor at University of Michigan. His research experience covers a range of topics in theoretical materials physics and materials science, mainly including: Materials performance and microstructural evolution of ferritic steels in a fusion reactor environment; multi-scale computer simulations of nanoscale defect processes and electronic properties of nanostructures in ceramics. He has published five book chapters and more than 300 refereed journal papers. He has been selected as a FZD fellow, Institute of Ion Beam Physics and Materials Research, Forschungs Zentrum Rossendorf, Germany.
