
Sustainable Photonics Research Center (SPRC) is committed to pioneering high-efficiency and low-carbon sustainable photonics technologies. It aims to provide core driving force and solid technical support for the transformation and upgrading of Energy, Marine, Transportation and Biomedicine to high-end, intelligent and sustainable through continuous breakthroughs and integrated innovations in significant technologies of specialty light sources and micro-nano optical devices.
With a global perspective and interdisciplinary integration as its hallmarks, the center focuses on sustainable industry applications, promotes the exploration and commercialization of sustainable photonics technologies, and aims to establish itself as a world-class photonics research center. Through the development of an open and shared platform for scientific research and industrial collaboration, it facilitates deep integration of industry, academia, and research, building an innovation ecosystem driven by enterprise needs and centered on scientific innovation. Simultaneously, the center emphasizes the cultivation and aggregation of high-level photonics talents, striving to build a world-leading team of photonics professionals with cutting-edge vision and innovative capabilities. This provides sustained support for sustainable development and industrial upgrading.
The academic program of the International Center for Green Photonics is closely aligned with the frontier interdisciplinary fields of green photonic technologies, establishing a systematic layout that spans specialty light sources, integrated photonic devices, precision sensing and measurement, biomedical photonics, laser engineering, and intelligent optoelectronic systems.
The program highlights the core principles of low carbon, high efficiency, and sustainability, emphasizing a full-chain training model that covers fundamental photonics principles, key device design, system integration, and application scenario validation. Students gain systematic theoretical knowledge and experimental skills in ultrafast light sources, nonlinear optics, micro-nano fabrication and silicon photonic chips, fiber and waveguide technologies, laser processing, and precision measurement.
On the application side, courses and research projects focus on national urgent areas such as energy and environmental monitoring, biomedical diagnostics and treatment, communication and navigation, and intelligent manufacturing, while promoting the integration of photonic technologies with artificial intelligence, micro-nano manufacturing, and advanced materials. Supported by high-level research platforms and an international faculty team, the program aims to cultivate interdisciplinary talents with strong innovative design capabilities and engineering implementation skills.
