School of Law

The School of Law at Beihang University (formerly the Department of Law established in 1997 and upgraded to a School of Law in 2002) has, since its founding, grounded its development in the broader national context of advancing the rule of law. Drawing on the experience of leading law schools at home and abroad, the School adheres to a vision of “global perspective and sustainable development” and is committed to building a distinctive and excellent brand of legal education. Guided by the mission of pioneering and promoting a modern model of legal education, the School integrates the University’s comprehensive development plan and its positioning as a world-class university rooted in China. It follows the principles of “standardization, internationalization, and specialization,” leveraging Beihang University’s strengths in science and technology to serve the legal needs arising from the country’s plan of new industrialization. Over more than two decades of rapid growth, the School has developed into a prominent institution known for its solid disciplinary foundation, distinctive integration of law and technology, comprehensive talent training system, and pursuit of academic excellence. The School is also a key supporting unit for national initiatives, including the 211 Project, the 985 Project, the 2011 Collaborative Innovation Plan, and the Double First-Class university program. It hosts the Ministry of Education’s first cohort of “Excellent Legal Talent Training Program” and is designated as one of the nation’s first-class undergraduate program construction sites.

The School provides robust resources for legal education and offers a full continuum of degree programs, including the LL.B., the Academic Master’s Degree in Law (first-level discipline), the Professional Master’s Degree in Law, the Doctor of Law, and the Professional Doctorate in Law (first-level discipline).

Maintaining talent cultivation as its highest priority, the School aligns its programs with the country’s demand for high-quality legal professionals in the new era. It aims to cultivate interdisciplinary legal talents who possess solid legal knowledge, strong practical competence, and an understanding of industrial and information technology—fully leveraging Beihang University’s status as a leading institution in science and engineering.
